Comments:

Retired after 45+ exciting years of participation in NASA’s Space Shuttle, Life & Microgravity Sciences, and Extravehicular Activity (EVA) programs. My career paralleled the modern manned-space era, and milestones include spacesuit development and test support for the very first Space Shuttle flight, astronaut training and flight support for the first Space Shuttle “spacewalk”, and astronaut training and procedure development for many NASA “firsts”. I am most proud of my 20+ years on the Hubble Space Telescope program spent developing unique tools and working with the astronaut crews that serviced the HST on orbit.

A career highlight for me was being involved in the historical final HST servicing mission in May 2009 in part by developing procedures and training NASA’s astronauts to repair the Advanced Camera for Surveys, an extremely delicate and critical task described by my friend astronaut John M. Grunsfeld (Ph.D.) as “performing brain surgery in space while wearing oven mitts”.

These days I enjoy spending time with my two married daughters, their spouses and my two grandchildren! I have also been sharing time and life with a special lady and traveling with her…including cross-country trips in our little RV travel trailer. And, in October of 2022 I bought a little 1944 Cape Cod in the Wilmington, DE area...returning to the 302 after 41 years. Retirement is awesome!

One of my personal joys has been that a significant number of the HCHS Class of 1975 has managed to stay in touch through the years - celebrating joys together and supporting each other during Life's challenging moments.

How cool is it to get a shout out from 350 miles up?!

After a long day of spacewalking, my buddies Mike Massimino (aka "Mass) and Mike Good (aka "Bueno") send thanks out to some of the folks who worked hard preparing them for the STS-125 mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope.
